A Tuesday evening drive ended in catastrophe for a 3-year-old boy. The fatal crash killed the toddler and critically injured another Florida driver. Reportedly, one of the drivers ran a stop sign, and the vehicles ended up crashing into a home.
A 19-year-old woman was traveling on the roadway and headed in the westbound direction to take the boy, who a witness said was her brother, to the park. According to reports, the woman ran through a stop sign and slammed into a Cadillac. The impact caused both of the vehicles to break through a fence and into a residence. Medics took the driver of the Cadillac to the hospital to be treated for critical injuries. The toddler, who was thrown from the vehicle, was also transported to the hospital where he later died.
A witness stated to authorities that after the crash, she noticed the woman screaming and begging for help as she held the bleeding toddler in her hands. Charges may be pending in this case and it is not known if the boy was strapped in a car seat. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
A car crash is devastating, particularly when serious injuries or a death occurs. Individuals who are injured in accidents usually suffer from the financial burdens of lost wages and medical expenses in addition to their physical injuries. In this instance, the driver of the Cadillac may wish to pursue a personal injury claim against the woman to recover damages related to the accident. A successfully litigated claim in a Florida civil courtroom could result in monetary compensation as the driver continues to recover.
